The Frontman
Alex Wesley
Alex Wesley is the frontman of Francis — vocals, guitar and keys, usually all three in the same set. He is a professional musician and producer based in the Milton Keynes area, and he has played somewhere north of 3,000 shows.
If you book Francis for a wedding, Alex is the person you deal with from the first email to the last song. He works out the running order, learns the first dance, and reads the room on the night.
Playing
Alex sings and plays guitar, switching to keys through the set. In the standard Francis four-piece that sits alongside drums, bass and a second guitar; he also plays solo, as a duo and as a trio, and scales up to an expanded line-up for bigger rooms.
Before Milton Keynes there were years in Dubai, including the residency with Gorgeous George at Lock Stock and Barrel that took TimeOut Dubai’s “Best Bar Band” award in 2019. Francis music is licensed to Universal Music in Dubai. Along the way: after-show sets following Coldplay and Kings of Leon, and a performance at the 2019 Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The Gear Side
Alex started at Yamaha Guitars, supporting their UK and international product managers, and still works with them freelance as a product demonstrator and trainer — including Line 6 training in Los Angeles, and input into the Rev Star guitar and CP keyboard ranges.
He spent 2015–16 as a freelance demonstrator for Vox Amplification, and has filmed product demonstration content for Marshall’s acoustic amplifier range. Marshall have also booked Francis directly to play a corporate Bandeoke night.
It is not a side hobby so much as the same job from a different angle. Knowing how a room, a PA and an amp actually behave is most of what separates a band that sounds good in rehearsal from one that sounds good at your wedding.
